The Computers In Society (CIS) Project is strictly a volunteer based group
of professionals, with a focus on improving access to Information Technology
in rural areas, underprivileged schools and other educational institutions
in need. This is accomplished mainly through projects proposed and led by
these professionals.

One such project is the provision of computer hardware and support to
schools, orphanages, etc. The CIS has received hardware donated by various
sources, and stores them at its computer lab facility set up at the Tunupuna
Hindu School.

Under this project, the CIS is hosting a three day workshop on computer
hardware as follows:

Date: 17-19 August, 2005.

Time: 9:00am - 12:00noon.

Venue: Tunapuna Hindu Primary School, Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Tunapuna.
(Opposite FedEx, UWI IOB).

Lead Instructor:
- Shiva Maharaj, owner of Cyberstate Limited, a Comptia A+ Authorised
Service Centre in Trinidad and Tobago.

Target Audience:
- Computer Science students
- Anyone with an interest in learning about computer hardware.

Benefits and outcomes: At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able
to identify various computer hardware components, build and/or upgrade their
own computers, troubleshoot and diagnose basic hardware and software
problems.

Cost: Free

Registration: To register, please send your name, occupation/school and

Attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the
workshop.
